Only Murders in the Fountain

The fountain at the center of a popular TV show will be lots cleaner next season.

The last season of "Only Murders in the Building," a comedy/murder mystery on Hulu, ended with a major cliffhanger involving a gruesome discovery in a marble fountain.

In between production of the next two seasons, a different sort of task popped up on the agenda. To the displeasure of the building owners and show producers, the fountain, which is at the center of nearly every episode, had become increasingly marred with copper and biological staining.

The marble fountain and surrounding basin needed cleaning.

Fortunately, Matt Bury of Western Specialties, the contractor charged with the cleaning, was on the case, along with Guy Mazza, PROSOCO’s Regional Sales Manager covering NYC. Before a cleaning could commence, they’d need to test to see which cleaner would work best considering the unique circumstances of the project.

“Guy was instrumental, just a huge help in doing tons of these mockups,” Bury said. “We got a mockup summary of before and afters with Limestone Marble Cleaner, Light Duty Restoration Cleaner, we went through them all. It was probably 8 products that we tried in total in small test spots that were less noticeable.”

Equipped with the data from the mockups, they solved the mystery, at least in real life. They used ReKlaim on the biological stains, and Copper Stain Remover on the copper ones.
