PROSOCO is proud to announce that it has been recognized as a US Environmental Protection Agency 2020 Safer Choice Partner of the Year. This honor is given in recognition of a company’s achievements in the design, manufacture, selection and use of products with safer chemicals in the advancement of innovative source reduction.
The award was announced during a virtual ceremony on Sept. 24, with stakeholders from EPA Safer Choice and PROSOCO.
“The U.S. EPA Safer Choice program’s staff and their third-party profilers are valued partners in helping formulators create effective products with improved user safety and environmental attributes,” said Dwayne Fuhlhage, Sustainability and Environment Director at PROSOCO. “I’m thankful for our ongoing collaboration, and PROSOCO is honored to have been recognized as a Partner of the Year.”
US EPA Region 7 released the following statement in a press release:
“We are pleased today to be recognizing the leadership and accomplishments of a diverse array of organizations over the past year,” said EPA Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention Assistant Administrator Alexandra Dapolito Dunn. “This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Pollution Prevention Act and the awardees have all contributed to source reduction, also known as pollution prevention, through the design, manufacture, selection, and use of products with safer chemicals.”
“For years, PROSOCO has shown continued commitment in the development of safer chemical products for professional use,” said EPA Region 7 Administrator Jim Gulliford. “To qualify for a Safer Choice label, a product must meet EPA’s Safer Choice Standard, which includes stringent human health and environmental criteria. As a Safer Choice partner, consumers can be confident that PROSOCO’s Safer Choice-certified products have ingredients that are safer for families, pets, workplaces, communities, and the environment.”
PROSOCO offers four institutional and commercial cleaning products that are certified with EPA Safer Choice. They are:
- Klean ‘N Release Cleaner, an easy-to-use and fragrance-free multi-purpose hard surface cleaner that meets Safer Choice direct-release criteria for outdoor uses.
Plus, three maintenance cleaners designed for daily use on concrete floors:
- DailyKlean, made for use in a mop bucket or any sized auto-scrubber;
- DailyKlean ULTRA 15, a premeasured concentrate designed for 15-gallon auto-scrubbers; and
- DailyKlean ULTRA 30, a premeasured concentrate designed for 30-gallon auto-scrubbers.
In addition to certifying their safer ingredients for the EPA’s human health and environmental criteria, the Safer Choice label ensures that the use of safer ingredients in products does not sacrifice quality or performance. The combination of effective performance and the peace of mind enabled through using safer products is increasingly important for project teams across the country designing and building schools, offices, commercial buildings and multifamily homes.
“The Safer Choice label is recognized in the LEED, WELL, Living Building Challenge, and federal procurement standards,” Fuhlhage said. “This designation makes it easy for specifiers and purchasers to find effective products.”
