New life for the Gardner School in Valparaiso

Christian Kundel, estimator and project manager for RestoreWorks, recently sent us some photos and details about an exterior restoration they helped complete on the new Grand Gardner Hotel in Valparaiso, Indiana. They were called on by subcontractor Adam's Masonry to perform a restorative cleaning. The cleaning was part of a $39.5 million project, led by general contractor Tonn and Blank, to add and tie-in a new structure around the hotel and incorporate the existing structure of the former school. Built in 1899, the school building will be transformed to serve as the hotel's lobby, kitchen, six guest suites and a speak-easy lounge and bar, all while preserving its original Romanesque features.

On the red brick and limestone exterior, Kundel said the cleaning was "very easy" with ReVive and Restoration Cleaner to remove biological and carbon stains.

"We use ReVive and several other PROSOCO products a lot," he says. "We absolutely love PROSOCO's products and how effective they are."
