PROSOCO’s VB is an air and water barrier that protects the building envelope and ensures no air or moisture intrusion occurs within a building. In most cases, PROSOCO recommends a vapor-permeable air barrier so that any moisture that may occur on the inside of the wall can escape instead of being trapped in the wall. However, there are some rare occasions where a vapor barrier is a good choice for your building. Some examples include buildings where there is an indoor pool, or specialized buildings like museums, archives, and laboratories that require strict humidity and temperature control.
Step 1 – Prep rough openings and details
Ensure all detail work on rough openings, penetrations, and transitions is complete before applying VB.

Step 2 – Mix VB thoroughly
Mix VB with a low-speed drill and clean mixing paddle.
Step 3 - Roll or spray first coat of VB
Apply one coat at 15 wet mils to the entire field of the wall. Allow to dry.
Roller application: Use a 3/4-inch (19-mm) nap roller for even coverage.
Spray application: R-Guard VB is compatible with GRACO and Titan airless spray equipment with the following specifications:
- Minimum 1 gallon per minute output.
- Minimum hose width of 3/8 inch. A ¼ x 3-foot whip hose may be used for ergonomic purposes, but a 3/8 inch ID hose should run up to it.
- Minimum tip size of 0.027–0.031.
- Minimum pressure requirement of 2,000 psi at the gun with an airless sprayer rated no lower than 3,300 psi.
- Remove all filters in the sprayer and gun before application to ensure proper flow.

Step 4 - Roll or spray second coat of VB
Apply a second coat at 15 wet mils for a total of 30 mils of VB on the wall. When finished, the surface should be free of voids or pinholes. Allow to dry.
